the future is two-faced
shiny and bright
but much too full
of lonely nights.
1. happening in an uncontrollable manner--unrestrained; 2. violent and raging; 3. rearing upon the hind legs with the forelegs extended

but
I am so grateful for you,
but...
there's that word
little good ever comes from it
so let's leave it at that:
But.
there are too many of them anyway
but...

so let's leave it at that:
But.
there are too many of them anyway

duality
in some conversations
there are two planes
the pretense, the face value
and a hidden underworld
of thinly veiled truth

the pretense, the face value
and a hidden underworld
of thinly veiled truth

the feather
There is this feather
and when you walk by
it floats into the air
as if it could fly
and when you are gone
it drifts to the ground
where it lies still until
you come back around
and when you walk by
it floats into the air
as if it could fly
and when you are gone
it drifts to the ground
where it lies still until
you come back around

the lion
There is a lion in my heart
He can be a sweet thing
purring when he's petted
growling for attention
He's got a mighty roar, that lion.
Someone keeps unlocking his cage
so I have to go catch his ass
and coax him back into it
and he bites and scratches me
He's not a tame lion.
I'm pretty sure he has rabies
He drives me crazy lately
I can't bring myself to shoot him
I'd starve him to death humanely
but someone keeps feeding him.
Look at him pacing back and forth
Perhaps he's not mad at all but just
wants to run and pounce and play
Maybe he just needs some sunshine
Lions weren't meant to be caged.
